What Grocery Store is Cheaper Than Walmart

For some people, Walmart is one and the only mart they want to visit because they think the
products they get are cheapest amongst all the groceries. If these folks describe you a lot, you
might have never seen or been curious about the better deal in your location.

You don’t have to feel awkward though to wonder if there is any grocery that offers cheaper
priced grocery items than Walmart. Well, there are various names that you could check but we
will go with Aldi. According to moneytalksnews.com the grocery bill at Aldi was 14% cheaper than the grocery bill at Walmart.

What Grocery Store is Cheaper Than Walmart

We were planning to shop for the Oktoberfest back then to welcome the Halloween party at our
office. And we compared the price of the menu items at Walmart and Aldi.
What we found was a true shocker. When we looked at those numbers, we knew that we would
save an enormous amount of money from Aldi.

For instance, a frozen turkey only cost $1.4 per pound. That was almost half of what they
charged at Walmart which was $2.1 per pound. A five-pound potatoes bag cost difference could
be as much as 99 cents. In Aldi, you just need to spend $1 for a pound of cornstarch. Imagine
how much you can save at Aldi.

Aldi might have some more expensive organic items like tomatoes, strawberries, and others.
But they offered such great deals on fresh products. You will agree when you see it by yourself
at Aldi.

But a fellow buyer told us that Aldi did not do rigorous investment in customer service. That
would probably explain why they could keep the prices much lower than Walmart. If you have
spent enough time shopping from Walmart, you know how high the standard of customer
experience there is.

And when we visited Aldi for the first time in October 2019, what they said was true. There
wasn’t much customer service that we noticed in the store. Well, all of the items are displayed
neatly and orderly. We loved the presentations of the mart. But if we couldn’t find the customer
service, we were pretty sure that we could ask the cashier to help us. But we didn’t find any
difficulty in browsing the store.

Aldi requires buyers to bring their own bags. So, make sure you bring your reusable bags or
anything that you can use to pack the items you purchase from Aldi. Aldi is a growing chain with
abundant discounts. It is always interesting to see what offers they have.

We filled our shopping cart with some products from different categories such as low-fat milk,
eggs, turkey, cornstarch, potatoes, some snacks, condiments, some sodas, and diapers for our
babies. The grocery bill made us smile. Although Aldi’s location is a bit far away from our house,
we knew at that time that we would save more if we purchased more items from this store.

Here is what we found after purchasing at Aldi. More than 90% of Aldi’s products are private
labels. This grocery store carries a good combination of national and regional brands.

When it comes to the Store Brand quality, it was also a true shocker. Before we did our own
research on Aldi, we had checked some reviews from some fellow shoppers. Most of them gave
two thumbs up on Aldi’s store brands. Well, we agreed.

The store-brand items from Aldi helped us to save enormous amounts of money. Based on
Consumer Reports statistics, it can help the buyers to save as much as $3,000 per year for the
average family of five. We were six. And it was a great number for us. Aldi’s brand products also
come with double-guarantee which grants refund and replacement if the products were
unsatisfying.

What should you not buy at Walmart?

Walmart is a good place to shop. But it’s not always providing the best products for you and
your family. We are not only talking about the prices of the products, but also the values.

Groceries

Walmart offers loads of groceries but it does not mean the place comes with the best quality.
You’ve probably heard enough that many people do not like how the mart selects the products,
bakery, and meats.

Organic Products

From our own experiences, we rarely saw that Walmart had a cheaper price of Apple than
Aldi’s. We also noticed the considerable differences in other organic items like veggies and
other fruits.

Nuts

If you are a true lover of nuts, Walmart would not be the best option to get. According to
Consumer Reports, Trader Joe tends to have better quality and price of nuts.

Store-branded supplements and vitamins

New York Times ever reported the Ginkgo biloba Supplement blunder from Walmart. They
found out that the ingredients were actually powdered radish, houseplants, and wheat. This
case sparked the outrages from customers and experts back then although Walmart had
already addressed the issue and stated their responsibility.

Who has better prices Walmart or Target?

We made the comparison between Walmart and Target back in late February 2020 before the
shutdowns due to pandemic. We compare the prices of the store-brand products from each
store. Walmart wins in terms of price. Most of Walmart’s items win over Target’s prices by a
penny or two, although some of the items could be whopping to $3 differences.

But we cannot deny that Walmart is the winner when we compare the store-brand products.
Their store-brand products tend to be cheaper than Targets. As we compared the final bill,
Walmart beat Target by 25%. Walmart’s grocery orientation is more conventional than Target’s.
Target is slightly exclusive in producing their food items.

Is Target better than Walmart?

Target stores have higher standards than Walmart. As mentioned, it is slightly more exclusive
than Walmart in almost every aspect. If we could describe it in one word “upper-class”. Target
Shopping experience, as quoted from the fellow buyers, is similar to the department store
shopping store rather than traditional grocery stores. If you are personally up to the grocery
experience, Target might not give you the liberty to do it. Targets are neater and better stocked.
But it is not always the case when you go shopping for the best prices and product
